Anthurium blooms like crazy almost all year round if you follow these simple care rules

Anthurium is a tropical plant that requires specific conditions to grow successfully.

How to properly care for anthuriums?

Watering Settings

The main mistake anthurium owners make is overwatering. Excessive moisture can lead to the death of the plant. It’s important to let the soil dry out for 2-4 cm between waterings, depending on the size of the pot.

Lighting

Anthuriums require plenty of light, at least 10 hours a day. The ideal location for the pot is an east- or west-facing window, where the plant receives morning or evening light. A north-facing window is not suitable for flowering, but it is suitable for growing a lush bush.

Choosing a Pot

The success of growing anthuriums depends largely on the size of the pot. In a pot that’s too large, the plant’s root system will develop poorly, which will affect flowering and the size of the leaves. If the leaves begin to yellow, it may be a sign that the plant needs to be repotted due to root rot.

Selecting a Substrate

Being an epiphytic plant, anthuriums grow spontaneously on other plants and therefore don’t require dense, black soil. The substrate should be loose, quick-drying, and moisture-retaining. A mixture of potting soil and pine bark is ideal.
